The "Masque de lune Chantante" belongs to a broader RCM artistic series leaning heavily on the renewed collector appetite for ultra-high-relief gold in the 2010s — a format the Mint had been refining since its landmark 2013 and 2014 high-relief issues. At .9999 fineness, the planchet is as soft as gold gets in modern minting, which allows the sculptural depth these pieces demand but makes post-strike handling unforgiving.
