| 正面描述 | The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, sculpted by Susanna Blunt, depicting the Queen in right-facing profile as she appeared at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The legend encircles the portrait along the upper periphery, reading ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA, with CANADA and the designer's initials SB positioned below. The field is smooth and the portrait rendered in fine relief consistent with Royal Canadian Mint proof standards. |

The beaver's tenure on Canadian coinage stretches back to the 1937 redesign, when Emanuel Hahn's reverse became one of the most recognized animal depictions in circulation anywhere in the Commonwealth. This 2014 bullion issue belongs to the RCM's "Land" subseries within the broader Canadian Icons program, a thematic grouping that leaned heavily on wildlife subjects already embedded in the national numismatic vocabulary.
The .9999 fine standard has been the RCM's benchmark since the late 1980s — finer than the American Gold Eagle and on par with the Canadian Maple Leaf that established that reputation.
