| Reverse description | The reverse features a highly sculptural, ultra high relief representation of the Grandmother Moon Mask, a figure of profound significance in First Nations Haida tradition, rendered by artist Richard Cochrane (initials 'RC' visible in the lower right of the inner field). The mask occupies a large circular raised platform adorned with evenly spaced dome-headed bosses around its circumference, and displays deeply carved facial features including wide circular eyes, a broad nose, and full lips, with fine wood-grain texturing across the entire surface evoking traditional carved art. The field surrounding the platform is polished to a mirror finish, creating a striking contrast with the frosted relief of the mask. The legend 'CANADA' curves along the upper periphery and '200 DOLLARS 2013' arcs across the lower portion, all in bold raised Latin capitals separated by dot dividers. |
