Additional information

The sixth effigy of Elizabeth II used on Australian coinage — the Jody Clark portrait adopted by the Royal Australian Mint beginning in 2019 — marked a quietly contentious transition. Several Commonwealth mints had already moved to Clark's portrait years earlier following its 2015 introduction on British coinage, but Australia delayed adoption, meaning this issue represents the first year the updated portrait appeared on Australian gold bullion and proof formats. The 62-gram two-ounce format places it in a relatively narrow tier of the RAM's proof gold program, above the standard one-ounce but below the kilo issues that dominate collector attention.
