| 正面描述 | The fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, as modeled by Ian Rank-Broadley. The legend encircling the field reads ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA, with additional inscriptions denoting the coin's weight, fineness, year of issue, and face value. The initials IRB appear beneath the effigy, attributing the portrait to its engraver. |

Perth Mint's lunar bullion series traces its origins to 1996, making it one of the longest-running annual gold bullion programs in the Southern Hemisphere. Unlike the Canadian Maple Leaf or South African Krugerrand, the Perth Mint changes its reverse design annually, which creates secondary market pressure on individual years — the Rooster issue in particular benefited from unusually strong demand out of mainland China and Hong Kong ahead of the Lunar New Year in January 2017.
The two-ounce format is specific to this series and was introduced to fill the gap between the one-ounce and the kilo.
