Reverse description A Red Kangaroo (Macropus rufus) depicted in full leap to the left, rendered in high relief at the centre of a sunburst pattern of fine radial lines within an inner circle. The species name 'RED KANGAROO' is inscribed in the lower field beneath the central motif. The outer legend 'THE AUSTRALIAN NUGGET 2 OZ. 9999 GOLD' arcs around the upper portion of the coin, while the date appears at the bottom, all separated by a beaded inner border.
