| Obverse description | Facing right, the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley occupies the centre of the obverse field, depicting the Queen as a mature, bare-necked bust wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara and a drop earring, her hair elaborately styled. The engraver's initials IRB appear in small relief below the truncation of the neck. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs across the upper field from left to right, with AUSTRALIA continuing along the right periphery; the denomination 200 DOLLARS is inscribed in large letters along the lower arc. A finely executed beaded border frames the entire design. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a naturalistic rendering of a red kangaroo standing alert in a grassy outback setting, facing left, surrounded by sparse native vegetation rendered in fine detail. Behind the kangaroo, a bold stylised sunburst of sharply pointed rays radiates outward, filling the upper field and lending a dynamic, quintessentially Australian character to the composition. The engraver's initials JR appear in the lower field to the right of the kangaroo. The Perth Mint's P mintmark is visible to the left of the central motif. The arced legend THE AUSTRALIAN NUGGET runs along the upper left periphery, while 2 OZ. 9999 GOLD arcs along the upper right; the date 2000 is inscribed in the lower field, all separated by dot stops, and a beaded border encircles the entire design. |
