| Reversbeschreibung | Finely detailed high-relief depiction of the Fiji snake (Ogmodon vitianus), a critically endangered endemic species, shown coiled atop rocky ground amid sparse vegetation in the central field. The denomination $200 appears in bold numerals to the upper right of the design. The mirror-proof field provides a stark contrast to the frosted sculptural relief of the serpent, emphasizing the naturalistic rendering characteristic of World Wildlife Fund commemorative issues. |

The World Wildlife Fund's 25th anniversary in 1986 prompted a wave of commemorative issues from nations whose territories harbored genuinely threatened fauna. Fiji's contribution spotlighted Ogmodon vitianus, the bolo snake — a small fossorial species endemic to Viti Levu and one of the rarest snakes on earth, with population estimates that have never exceeded a few hundred individuals. It belongs to a monotypic genus, meaning no close living relatives exist anywhere.
The WWF itself co-authorized the series, making these among the few commemoratives where the conservation body had direct programmatic involvement rather than merely lending its name.
