| 正面铭文 | ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA 1994 (Translation: Elizabeth II Queen by the grace of God) |
| 背面描述 | A young girl with long flowing hair, identifiable as Anne Shirley from L.M. Montgomery's novel Anne of Green Gables, is depicted seated in profile within a rustic gazebo framed by wooden lattice posts. She gazes toward a small doll dressed in period costume, resting atop a stack of books in the right field, evoking the literary theme of the issue. Flowering branches arch gracefully overhead within the circular gazebo opening, adding a pastoral, idyllic quality to the composition. The denomination '200 DOLLARS' is inscribed in the upper legend and 'CANADA' appears in the lower legend, both in raised Latin lettering within the coin's border. |

Issued to mark the 86th anniversary of L.M. Montgomery's 1908 novel, this coin was struck under a licensing arrangement tied to the Anne of Green Gables estate — rights that have been the subject of prolonged legal dispute between Montgomery's heirs and the L.M. Montgomery Institute for decades. The 1994 release was part of the Royal Canadian Mint's ongoing $200 gold series, which began in 1990 and assigned each year's issue to a Canadian cultural or natural theme.
Montgomery wrote the original novel at her home in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island, completing it in 1905 after several rejections before L.C. Page & Co. of Boston finally accepted the manuscript.
