Additional information

The Green March of November 1975 was a calculated geopolitical maneuver by Hassan II, who mobilized 350,000 Moroccan civilians to cross into Spanish-controlled Western Sahara just as Franco lay dying in Madrid. Spain, unwilling to fight a colonial war with its dictator incapacitated and a transition government scrambling for stability, negotiated withdrawal within weeks. Morocco commemorated the event aggressively — anniversary issues appeared at the 10th, 15th, and later milestones, making this 1990 strike one of several in an ongoing series rather than a standalone issue.
