200 Colones

The 200 Colones denomination was introduced relatively late in the Salvadoran colon series, reflecting the inflationary pressure that had eroded the purchasing power of lower values over the preceding decades. El Salvador dollarized in January 2001 under the Monetary Integration Law, almost immediately retiring the colon from circulation — notes of this series had a remarkably short window of active use before being superseded entirely by USD.

Pick 152 is not a difficult note to find, but circulated examples in honest used condition are less common than the numbers suggest, largely because dollarization happened quickly and many colones were pulled before wearing out.
