Opmerkingen

The Southeast Hupeh Workers and Farmers Bank was one of dozens of short-lived soviet-area financial institutions established by the Chinese Communist Party in its rural base areas during the early 1930s. The Hubei-Henan-Anhui Soviet — known as the Eyuwan base — was under sustained Nationalist encirclement campaign pressure throughout 1932, and the bank's notes were instruments of an economy operating under active military siege. Chiang Kai-shek's Fourth Encirclement Campaign effectively destroyed the Eyuwan base by late that year, making the entire note issue extraordinarily brief.

Survivors are rare precisely because the base collapsed so quickly after issue.
