The Sociedade Numismática Paranaense — a Curitiba-based collectors' organization — issued this privately produced fantasy note as part of a bicentennial commemorative series marking 200 years of Brazilian independence. The "Brasilis" denomination is fictitious, carrying no legal tender status. These pieces exist purely within the numismatic community as souvenir exonumia, a practice with a long tradition among South American philatelic and numismatic societies, particularly during anniversary years.
Fagner Maximo da Silveira, the designer credited on this note, has produced artwork for multiple issues in the SNP's commemorative output. Dona Leopoldina — Maria Leopoldina of Austria, who signed the Conselho de Estado documents on 2 September 1822, a day before Pedro I's famous proclamation — is a historically defensible subject choice, arguably underrepresented in official Brazilian currency iconography given her direct role in the independence process.
