Venezuela's 2010 bicentennial commemorative program marked the 200th anniversary of the April 19, 1810 declaration that began the independence movement, an event the Chávez government invested heavily in mythologizing as a precursor to its own Bolivarian revolution. The timing was deliberate — 2010 also saw Chávez at a domestic political inflection point, and the commemorative coin program was rolled out alongside an aggressive rebranding of public institutions under the "Bicentenario" banner.
Mintage figures for this issue were never formally published by the BCV.
