200 000 Zlotys Władyslaw III Warneńczyk half length, Trial Strike

Trial strikes from Mennica Polska's early post-communist period document the mint's internal approval process — these nickel proofings were produced to test dies and gain authorization before committing to a precious-metal issue. The Władysław III Warneńczyk 200,000 złoty commemorative was part of a broader 1992 royal portrait series issued as Poland was still navigating the redenomination that would eventually lop four zeros off the currency in 1995.

Władysław III died at Varna in 1444, killed fighting the Ottomans at age twenty, leaving no heir and the Polish-Hungarian throne in crisis. The nickel trial exists in far smaller numbers than the issued gold or silver versions.
