Issued in Poland's chaotic post-communist monetary transition, this piece appeared when the zloty had been so devastated by inflation that a face value of 200,000 was functionally trivial — roughly equivalent to a few US dollars at the time. Poland would redenominate the currency entirely in 1995, replacing 10,000 old zlotys with one new złoty, rendering the entire collector series from this period numerically absurd in retrospect.
