Opmerkingen

Venezuela's 2020 redenomination — which lopped six zeroes off the bolívar fuerte to create the bolívar soberano — had already rendered high-denomination notes like this one a product of its own failure. The 200,000 bolívar soberano note appeared as hyperinflation continued to accelerate past the point where any printed denomination could keep pace with daily prices. By the time notes of this face value entered circulation, they were worth fractions of a US dollar.

Printed domestically, the series relied on basic security features at a moment when Venezuela's own currency-printing infrastructure had been severely strained by years of economic collapse and supply shortages.
