| Obverse description | The crowned Polish White Eagle, the national emblem of Poland, is displayed centrally in the field with wings spread and talons extended. The date '1995' is inscribed in the field flanking the eagle's tail feathers, divided as '19' to the left and '95' to the right, with the mint mark of the Mint of Poland (MW) visible below. The circular legend 'RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA' runs along the upper periphery, separated by decorative dots. The denomination '20' appears prominently in the lower field, flanked on either side by the currency abbreviation 'ZŁ', all separated by dot ornaments. |

Poland's Olympic commemorative program accelerated sharply in the mid-1990s as the NBP recognized foreign collector demand as a hard currency revenue stream. This Atlanta issue was struck the year before the Games — standard practice for Polish silver commemoratives of the period, which were sold through Mennica Polska's export channels well ahead of the event they marked.
The 1996 Atlanta Games were the centennial Olympics, awarded controversially over Athens, a slight the Greek government protested formally to the IOC.
