Poland issued a series of Olympic commemoratives for the Moscow Games, but trial strikes in nickel — rather than the issued cupro-nickel — represent internal mint testing pieces that never reached circulation. The Warsaw Mint produced these as die and alloy proofs for approval, and most were retained institutionally rather than distributed. Fischer and Parchimowicz catalog these separately from the issued strikes precisely because the composition was rejected before production commenced.
