| Popis líce | The obverse presents an elaborate geometric composition of interlocking squares and diagonal lines forming a star-like framework, at the corners of which four crossed swords and oak-leaf sprigs are symmetrically arranged in relief. At the centre, a multi-line inscribed panel carries the commemorative text in Latin script, separated by colons as punctuation. Below the central panel, the Polish state eagle — crowned and displayed — is rendered in fine relief, with the mint mark (MW) situated beneath it. The denomination 20 ZŁ appears at the lower left and the issue year 2023 at the lower right, both set vertically along the inner border. The circular legend RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA runs along the upper periphery. |

| Popis rubu | The reverse features a bold bas-relief scene in the style of Józef Gosławski, depicting Polish soldiers in close combat during the September 1939 campaign. Three uniformed infantrymen are shown in dynamic engagement, their helmets and equipment rendered with sculptural precision, conveying the violence and resolve of the defensive struggle. The composition is framed above and below by horizontal register lines, with the word ROK (year) inscribed at the upper field and the date 1939 rendered in large numerals across the lower field. The overall design reflects the heroic monumentalism characteristic of mid-twentieth-century Polish commemorative art. |
