Issued as a collector note to mark the 300th anniversary of the coronation of the image of Our Lady of Częstochowa — the 1717 ceremony, performed by a papal legate in Warsaw, was the first such Marian coronation in Poland and one of the earliest outside Italy. The note was never intended for general circulation; it was sold in sealed folders by NBP directly to collectors at face value, and commercial use was always theoretical.
Engraving by Przemysław Krajewski on a domestically produced note is worth noting — PWPW has maintained an active intaglio engraving workshop, and this piece was not farmed to a foreign security printer.
