| Obverse description | The Polish People's Republic coat of arms — a crowned white eagle with wings displayed, rendered in bold relief — occupies the upper central field, perched above a stepped plinth bearing the commemorative inscription in four lines. The circular legend along the rim reads POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA, interrupted by the mint mark at the base. Beneath the eagle, the plinth displays the dates 1944 and 1964 flanking the inscription DWADZIEŚCIA LAT POLSKI LUDOWEJ (Twenty Years of People's Poland). The date 1964 appears prominently in the lower field, flanked by two decorative dots. The overall design is executed in a modernist style characteristic of Polish socialist-era coinage. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a dynamic, modernist industrial composition filling the entire field, divided into a central vertical band and flanking scenic panels. The central column carries the bold stacked inscription NOWA HUTA / PŁOCK / TURO / SZÓW, naming three major industrial centres of People's Poland. To the left and right, stylised depictions of industrial infrastructure — including steel works, cranes, cooling towers, and construction frameworks — evoke the socialist industrialisation programme. The denomination 20 ZŁOTYCH is displayed in large numerals and text to the lower right. The word PRÓBA (trial/pattern) is incused vertically along the left rim, identifying this piece as a proof strike. |
