| Opis awersu | The obverse features the crowned Polish White Eagle — the national coat of arms — displayed centrally in the upper field, rendered in moderate relief with spread wings and head turned to the right. The circular legend POLSKA • RZECZPOSPOLITA • LUDOWA • 1979 runs along the upper periphery in Latin characters, identifying the issuing state as the Polish People's Republic with the year of issue. Below the eagle, the denomination 20 ZŁOTYCH is inscribed in two lines in large, bold numerals and lettering occupying the lower field. The mint mark MW appears discreetly in the lower portion of the field beneath the eagle.
