| Beschrijving voorzijde | The crowned Polish White Eagle, the national emblem of Poland, is depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, rendered in a naturalistic heraldic style with spread wings and head turned to the right. To the lower left and lower right of the eagle, angled decorative panels feature finely engraved close-up details of lizard scales, serving as a thematic link to the reverse subject. The legend RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 2009 appears below the eagle and the denomination ZŁ 20 ZŁ is inscribed prominently at the bottom of the field. The mint mark of the Mint of Poland (MW) is incorporated into the design. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two European green lizards (Lacerta viridis) are depicted in finely detailed high relief, occupying most of the reverse field; one lizard is shown in the upper portion facing left, while a larger individual curves across the lower field with its elongated tail sweeping to the lower left, conveying naturalistic movement. The background is enriched with finely engraved vegetation including grasses and wildflowers, creating a habitat scene of considerable artistic merit. The Polish vernacular name JASZCZURKA ZIELONA arcs along the left periphery from the lower left to the upper left, while the Linnaean binomial Lacerta viridis is inscribed along the right periphery in italic lettering, together forming the complete legend encircling the central design. |
