| Obverse description | The crowned Polish White Eagle, the national emblem of Poland, is depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, rendered in a naturalistic heraldic style with spread wings and head turned to the right. To the lower left and lower right of the eagle, angled decorative panels feature finely engraved close-up details of lizard scales, serving as a thematic link to the reverse subject. The legend RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 2009 appears below the eagle and the denomination ZŁ 20 ZŁ is inscribed prominently at the bottom of the field.
