Additional information

Poland's 1979 child welfare issue was part of a broader UN-driven commemorative program marking the International Year of the Child, declared by the General Assembly in 1976. The Polish State Mint produced trial strikes in multiple compositions before settling on the final circulating specification — this .625 fine silver piece represents one of those pre-production tests, distinct from the standard cupro-nickel issue that actually reached the public.

The Fischer and ParM references both catalog this as a confirmed trial, not a pattern proper. Survivors are genuinely rare; most trial material from Mennica Państwowa was melted or retained institutionally.
