| 正面描述 | The obverse of this rectangular silver Proof coin features, in the lower central field, the crowned Polish eagle — the national arms — rendered in fine relief. Flanking the eagle, the denomination '20 ZŁ' appears to the left and the date '2019' to the right. The legend 'RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA' is inscribed along the lower margin. Dominating the upper and central field is a large relief composition in the shape of the outline map of Poland, depicting a theatrical scene with draped female figures and classical architectural elements, evoking the world of 19th-century stage performance associated with Helena Modrzejewska. The background of the coin is rendered with a subtly textured drapery motif, enhancing the artistic depth of the design. |

Helena Modrzejewska — known in the United States as Helena Modjeska — left Kraków in 1876 for California, where she founded a short-lived utopian commune near Anaheim with Henryk Sienkiewicz before abandoning the experiment and resuming her stage career. She became one of the most celebrated Shakespearean actresses on the American stage, performing in English despite it being her third language. Her Arden home in Orange County is now a California State Historic Landmark.
The porcelain insert on this piece was produced in partnership with the Ćmielów Design Studio, one of Poland's oldest surviving porcelain manufacturers.
