The choice of cotton substrate rather than the polymer used in some recent Chinese commemoratives reflects a deliberate decision to match the tactile feel of standard circulation issues, keeping it accessible to the general public rather than positioned purely as a collector object.
Color-shifting ink on the denomination numeral shifts from gold to green — the same optical variable ink technology applied to higher-denomination standard series notes, which was unusual to deploy on a 20 Yuan face value.
