Beschrijving keerzijde A finely detailed high-relief effigy of an Anatolian leopard (Panthera pardus tulliana) depicted in full profile, standing and facing left with its characteristic spotted pelage rendered in precise sculptural detail. The animal occupies the central and lower field, its long tail curving upward to the right. The legend 'ANADOLU PARSI' arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin lettering. The background field is plain and mirror-polished, creating a striking contrast with the frosted relief of the animal. The composition emphasises the power and rarity of this critically endangered subspecies native to Anatolia.

Aanvullende informatie

Turkey's "Yeni" (New) Lira redenomination took effect on January 1, 2005, dropping six zeros from the old currency after decades of chronic inflation had rendered the lira nearly worthless in small denominations — the previous 10,000,000 lira became 10 yeni lira overnight. This coin belongs to the first year of that redenomination, making "Yeni" itself a historically short-lived label; it was quietly dropped in 2009 once the reform was considered sufficiently embedded in public understanding.

The Anatolian leopard (Panthera pardus tulliana) was, by 2005, functionally extinct in Turkey, with the last confirmed wild sighting dating to 1974.
