This brass piece was issued in 2010, the year Estonia locked its exchange rate to the euro in preparation for eurozone accession on 1 January 2011 — making it one of the final series struck under the Estonian kroon system before the currency was retired entirely. The kroon had itself only been reintroduced in 1992 following the collapse of the Soviet Union, giving it a lifespan of less than two decades.
