Obverse description The aluminium centre depicts a detailed rendering of a traditional Korean multi-tiered pavilion, likely the PyongyangArch of Triumph or a historic gate, set upon a stone platform and surrounded by stylised rocky terrain and foliage. The brass outer ring carries the Korean-script legend reading 조선민주주의인민공화국 (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) along the upper arc, with the denomination 20 원 (20 Won) inscribed at the base. The design is executed in high relief with a mirror-finish proof field in the centre.
