Obverse description Central vignette depicts the Taedong Gate (Taedongmun), a historic east gate of Pyongyang, rendered in fine relief with traditional Korean multi-tiered pavilion architecture set upon a stone foundation. The curved rooflines, bracketing, and surrounding vegetation are rendered in considerable detail. The circular legend in Korean script arcs around the upper periphery of the field, identifying the issuing authority. The denomination '20 WON' appears in the lower exergue beneath the gate.
