| Obverse description | Dark brown underprint and black letterpress text on yellowish paper, with ornate guilloche borders and floral scroll vignettes in each corner. The denomination numeral '20' appears in all four corners, with 'Vin.' abbreviated at the sides; the central field carries the issuing authority text and redemption pledge in Slovenian, surmounted by the validity date inscription along the top margin. A faint red control stamp is present in the centre, and the note exists in two signature font variants — regular and italic — the italic variant being slightly smaller at 70 × 39 mm. |

Maribor's municipal emergency currency from 1919 belongs to a chaotic transitional moment — the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian krone system left Yugoslav successor territories scrambling to fill immediate liquidity gaps before the new Kingdom's financial infrastructure could function. Mestna Občina Maribor was one of dozens of local authorities that simply printed their own fractional notes rather than wait. The Vinar denomination itself is a Slovenian adaptation of the heller, the old Habsburg subunit, retained temporarily out of practical necessity.
Locally produced notgeld of this type was typically printed in very small runs and used hard. Survivors in any condition are genuinely uncommon.
