Beschrijving keerzijde The central design features a stylized dove in flight, symbolizing peace, compositionally integrated with the shanyrak motif. The entire central device is enclosed within a broken ring of barbed wire, representing the suffering and memory of victims of political repression. The date '1997' appears in the lower exergue. The bilingual circular legend in Kazakh and Russian reads around the periphery, separated by decorative dots.

Aanvullende informatie

Kazakhstan's 1997 commemorative program marked the sixth anniversary of independence from the Soviet Union, declared on December 16, 1991. The National Bank issued several denominations that year as part of a broader effort to establish numismatic credibility for a currency — the tenge — that had only been introduced in November 1993, replacing the Soviet ruble at a rate of 500 rubles to one tenge.
