| Beschrijving voorzijde | The State Emblem of Kazakhstan occupies the central field, depicting a shanyrak (the crown of a yurt) with sun rays radiating outward, flanked by mythical winged horses (tulpars). The emblem is rendered in high relief with fine detail. The denomination '20' appears prominently in large numerals below the coat of arms, with the legend 'ТЕҢГЕ' inscribed beneath. A circular Kazakh-language legend reading 'ҚАЗАҚСТАН' to the left and 'ҰЛТТЫҚ БАНКІ' to the right runs along the periphery, separated by decorative dot groups. |

Kazakhstan issued this coin just four years after declaring independence, at a moment when UN membership carried genuine political weight — joining in 1992 marked the country's first recognition as a sovereign state on the international stage rather than a Soviet republic. The 50th anniversary of the UN in 1995 prompted commemorative issues from dozens of member states, but for Kazakhstan it coincided with the early work of establishing the tenge itself, introduced only in November 1993 to replace the Soviet ruble.
