Obverse description The Ecuadorian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a condor with outstretched wings perched atop an oval shield that features Mount Chimborazo, a river scene with a steamship, and a radiant sun above the mountains. The shield is flanked by four national flags and palm and laurel branches, with crossed fasces at the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR runs along the upper periphery, and the date of issue appears in the lower exergue. A fine beaded border frames the entire design.

Reverse description The numeral '20' in large relief dominates the upper portion of the field, accompanied by the denomination legend SUCRES below it. A representation of the Mitad del Mundo monument, the equatorial monument located near Quito, is depicted in the central field. Braille notation indicating the denomination is incorporated into the design, serving as an accessibility feature. The overall composition is clean and modern, with the design elements arranged symmetrically within a plain border.
