Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King George II facing left, rendered in high relief in the style of mid-18th century British coinage. A rectangular countermark applied over the king's portrait bears a crowned script 'G', denoting British administration of Guadeloupe and revaluing the host coin at 20 Sous. The circular legend GEORGIUS·II· DEI·GRATIA runs along the upper periphery. The countermark is cleanly struck and well-centred on the bust. The overall design reflects the authoritative engraving style of the Royal Mint under John Tanner.
