正面描述 The obverse is executed in black intaglio on a light underprint, with a central vignette of an agricultural harvest scene showing workers, a horse-drawn cart, and haystacks in a rural landscape. The denomination numeral '20' appears in ornate guilloche ovals at each upper corner, while portrait vignettes of a young girl in a wide-brimmed hat and a second child are set at the lower left and lower right respectively. The issuing authority legend 'EL BANCO NACIONAL DEL PERÚ' runs in bold letterpress across the lower central field, with the branch designation 'LA SUCURSAL EN TACNA DE' arching across the top, and the written denomination 'VEINTE SOLES' below.

备注

The Banco Nacional del Perú was established in 1873 and collapsed in 1877, its collapse accelerating the financial disorder that preceded the War of the Pacific. Notes issued from the Tacna branch carry that branch designation in their text — Tacna at the time was a Peruvian city, though it would fall under Chilean occupation from 1880 until 1929 after Peru's defeat in the war.

ABNC produced the plates in New York, a standard arrangement for South American bank issues of this period. Whether significant quantities of this denomination actually circulated before the bank's failure is unclear.
