| Obverse description | Baroque cartouche framed by bold foliate scrollwork, enclosing a left-facing helmeted Moor's head — the traditional emblem of Corsica — set within an ornate escutcheon. Two mermaid supporters flank the shield on either side, rendered in high relief against the field. The entire composition is surmounted by a royal crown in open-work style. The coin border is defined by a continuous beaded or toothed rim characteristic of milled Corsican coinage of the Paoli era. |
