One of the more obscure emergency issues in Balkan numismatics. Korçë had already lived through French occupation, a short-lived autonomous republic (1916–1920), and Greek administrative claims before this note appeared in 1921 — a period when the Albanian state existed on paper but had almost no functioning monetary infrastructure outside Tirana. Local communities in the south were essentially left to improvise.
The issuing authority translates roughly as "the commune of Korçë," and the denomination — skënder — was a proposed Albanian currency unit that never achieved national adoption. This note is among the very few physical artifacts of that failed monetary experiment at the municipal level.
