Aanvullende informatie

Kenya's bimetallic shilling coinage was restructured in the early 2000s partly to combat counterfeiting of the earlier brass issues. The magnetic variant — KM#36.2 — was introduced as a production economy, substituting steel cores for the costlier alloy blanks used in earlier strikes. Vending machine operators and transit systems across Nairobi pushed for better machine-readable properties, and the magnetic composition answered that need directly.
