Reverse description The reverse features a finely detailed rendering of two African elephants in a savanna setting: a large bull elephant standing prominently in the left field with ears spread and trunk lowered, while a second elephant with prominent curved tusks faces right in the foreground. A commemorative privy mark consisting of the numeral '15' within a laurel wreath, flanked by the years '2004' and '2018', appears in the upper right field, denoting the series' 15th anniversary. The upper legend reads 'AFRICAN WILDLIFE' and the lower legend 'ELEPHANT', both arcing along the periphery in Latin capitals, with the fineness and weight inscription '0.5 g Pt 999.5' completing the lower legend arc.

Additional information

Somalia's elephant bullion series, running in gold, silver, and platinum tiers, has become one of the more actively traded modern bullion programs out of Africa — largely because the designs change annually, driving collector demand well beyond spot. The 0.5g platinum denomination sits at the smallest and most accessible entry point in the platinum tier.

KM# 241 was struck by a European private mint under contract; the Central Bank of Somalia has no minting infrastructure of its own.
