| Obverse description | At upper centre, a vignette of two classical female figures in a pastoral harbour scene, flanked by the bank's cartouche stamp. To the left, a tall intaglio-engraved vignette of agricultural implements including scythes and a twisted cornucopia-style sheaf, executed in a fine copperplate style. The promise-to-pay text is rendered in elegant copperplate script, with the denomination 'One Pound Sterling' emphasised in large letterpress type at centre. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by a large central guilloche medallion enclosing the Royal Arms of Great Britain with lion and unicorn supporters, surrounded by dense radiating engine-turned lathe work. The cypher 'GR IV' appears to either side of the central arms, and a ribbon cartouche at the base bears the word 'ONE', all printed in a deep red and brown two-colour scheme. |
