Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing effigy of King Charles III occupies the central field, encircled by a ring bearing the twelve Chinese zodiac signs, with the Horse sign accentuated in high relief or gilt. The date and denomination legend appear above the portrait within the inner circle, while a small coat of arms is positioned below. The outer legend identifies the issuer and monarch. The design integrates Western royal portraiture with Chinese calendrical iconography in a dual-themed composition.

Aanvullende informatie

Akashagarbha is one of the eight great bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism, associated with boundless wisdom and space — the name itself translates roughly as "womb of the sky." Veneration of this figure has been particularly strong in Japanese Shingon tradition since the 9th century, where practitioners recite a specific 1.3-million-repetition mantra believed to sharpen memory and intellect.

Samoa's numismatic program has long issued coins with no practical circulation intent, produced under licensing arrangements aimed squarely at the collector market. The partial gilding is applied after striking.
