| Obverse description | Armored bust of Grand Master Fra Emmanuel Pinto de Fonseca facing right, wearing a full-bottomed curled wig and plate armor with decorative pauldrons and gorget, rendered in high relief. The effigy is boldly modeled in the Baroque style, occupying the majority of the field. The circumferential legend in Latin runs around the periphery, interrupted by dots used as word separators. The date 1765 appears in the exergue below the truncation. |

| Reverse description | Central device consisting of a circular shield charged with the cross of the Order of Malta, superimposed upon an eight-pointed Maltese star with four prominent pointed rays alternating with four groups of pellets, all rendered in fine relief. A large ornate crown surmounts the shield at the top of the field. The denomination numerals S and 20 appear at the base flanking the lower ray of the star. The circumferential Latin legend is divided around the periphery, reading continuously around the design. |
