Obverse description The centre of the obverse features a square frame with rounded corners enclosing the denomination numeral '20' above the word 'SCHILLING'. The Austrian federal shield appears in the lower portion of the design, flanking the two-digit year of issue divided by the shield. The encircling legend 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' runs along the upper periphery, with the date split across the lower field on either side of the shield. The overall design is clean and geometric, reflecting the functional aesthetic of Austrian circulation coinage of the period.
