| Reverse description | The reverse presents the ornate ecclesiastical coat of arms of Archbishop Johann Ernst Graf Thun, rendered in heraldic style. The shield is supported on the left by a heraldic lion, the traditional symbol of Salzburg, and on the right by an animal from the Thun family arms. The composition is surmounted by a archiepiscopal cross, a wide-brimmed galero hat, and pendant tasselled ribbons bearing the motto 'IN DOMINO CONFIDO' (In the Lord I Trust). Below the shield, the regnal dates 1687 and 1709 flanking the mint name 'SALZBURG' appear in the exergue, accompanied by the year of mintage. The surrounding legend identifies the subject in full. |
