备注

The P#96 series spans a period when the Reserve Bank was quietly overhauling its security architecture — the inset letter system introduced across these notes allowed the RBI to track printing batches by facility, a layer of administrative control not visible to casual users. SPMCIL had only been corporatized in 2006, carved out of direct government departmental control, making early impressions from this series among the first produced under the new entity's institutional identity.

The "no Rupee symbol" distinction matters because India formally adopted the ₹ symbol only in July 2010, designed by D. Udaya Kumar. Notes printed after its adoption carry it; this type predates or deliberately excludes it depending on print run.
