Obverse description Central field features the traditional Nepalese royal coat of arms rendered as a stepped, cross-shaped yantra (sacred geometric diagram) incorporating the royal cipher of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev at its center, surmounted by a trident symbol within a circular medallion. The arms of the yantra are adorned with various national emblems including a sun, a kukri, a plume, and other royal insignia. The Devanagari legend naming the king and his royal titles curves along the upper periphery, while the Vikrama Samvat regnal year 2036 appears in Nepali numerals at the lower portion of the design. The entire device is enclosed within a beaded border.
