| Reverse description | Two stylised skipjack tuna are depicted in dynamic, overlapping composition against a background of undulating wave lines suggestive of open ocean. The circular legend FAO WORLD FISHERIES CONFERENCE arcs along the upper rim, with the date range 1983-84 continuing along the right periphery. The denomination 20 RUFIYAA is inscribed along the lower rim, flanked on either side by a stylised fish motif serving as decorative punctuation. |

| Additional information |
The "WFC" suffix identifies this as the World Fisheries Conference commemorative, issued to coincide with the FAO-organized event held in Rome in 1984. Fishing has historically been the backbone of the Maldivian economy, and the Maldives Monetary Authority used the occasion to issue one of its larger copper-nickel pieces of the decade. Collector demand was modest at issue and has remained so — these were produced for international distribution rather than domestic circulation, and most surviving examples show little to no wear.
